Marilyn Monroe wasn’t paid for her n*de ‘Playboy’ pics

Marilyn Monroe, a Hollywood icon and a sex symbol of the 1950s and early 1960s, is known for her famous nde Playboy photoshoot.

However, she never actually posed for the magazine.

Monroe began her career as a model, signing a short-term contract with 20th Century-Fox in 1946 and making brief appearances in movies made by the Fox and Columbia studios. Later, she returned to modeling for photographers.

During this time, Monroe was cash-strapped and jobless, posing nde for pinup photographer Tom Kelley in exchange for $50, which she used for her car payment.

The shoot lasted for only two hours, and Monroe had made Kelley promise that she would look unrecognizable in the photos.

However, Kelley eventually sold the photos to the Western Lithograph Co. for $900, and the images were published as part of a “Golden Dreams” pinup calendar.

A year later, the blonde bombshell began to find great success as an actor, and Playboy founder Hugh Hefner purchased the rights to Monroe’s nd photos from the Chicago-area company for a reported $500 in fall 1953.

The magazine hit the stands for the first time in December 1953 with a price tag of 50 cents.

Hefner once said during a conversation with E! News in 2008, “Most people had heard about it but almost nobody had seen it, and nobody had seen it because the post office had taken the position that you couldn’t send ndty through the mail.

And I’m the kid that didn’t think the post office had that right. So we published that picture and it caused a sensation.”

Although Hefner and Monroe never met in person, she once said to Barris, “I never even received a thank-you from all those who made millions off a nde Marilyn photograph.”

Monroe was never paid more than the $50 paycheck and had to buy a copy of the magazine to see herself in it, as mentioned in George Barris’ 1995 book, Marilyn: Her Life in Her Own Words.

Monroe’s appearance on the first Playboy cover became the talk of the town at that time.

However, the actress never actually posed for the magazine at all.

Monroe made it clear to Kelley that she did not want to be associated with the photographs, and the contract she signed for the photoshoot did not allow for their publication.

Monroe’s nde photoshoot caused a scandal and drew a lot of attention from the public.

Many people believed that Monroe had agreed to pose for the magazine, but in reality, she had only posed for the pinup calendar.

The nde photoshoot also had a profound impact on Monroe’s career, as it made her an instant sensation and helped her to secure roles in major films.

Monroe’s famous nde photographs continue to be iconic, and they have been reproduced and displayed in various forms over the years.

However, the actress never received any money for the photographs, which continue to be a source of controversy and fascination.

Monroe’s legacy as a Hollywood icon and sex symbol has endured over the years, and her impact on popular culture continues to be felt today.

Despite her tragic death at a young age, Monroe remains one of the most beloved and celebrated actresses of all time.
