Emilia Clarke cried before sleeping with Jason Momoa

Actress Emilia Clarke recently opened up about her experience filming s^x scenes with co-star Jason Momoa for the hit TV series Game of Thrones.

In an interview on the Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard podcast in 2019, Clarke revealed that she would cry before filming the scenes with Momoa because she didn’t know about the ndty ahead of accepting the role.

Clarke, who was 23 at the time, said that she was “fresh from drama school” and had “never been on a film set before”.

She had to strip naked in front of “all those people”, which made her “terrified” of the s^x scenes because she “didn’t know what to do”.

“I’ve never been on a film set like this before and I’m now on a film set completely naked with all of these people, and I don’t know what I’m meant to do, and I don’t know what’s expected of me, and I don’t know what you want, and I don’t know what I want,” Clarke said.

The actress said that she only found out about the ndty after accepting the role.

“I took the job and then they sent me the scripts and I was reading them, and I was like, ‘Oh, there’s the catch!'” she said.

Clarke added that she had “imposter syndrome” during the filming of the first season.

“Regardless of there being ndty or not, I would have spent that first season thinking I’m not worthy of requiring anything.

I’m not worthy of needing anything at all,” she said. Despite her reservations, Clarke credited Momoa for making filming as easy as possible.

Momoa’s character, Khal Drogo, “virtually rapes” her on their wedding night, and Clarke said she feels “fortunate” for how Momoa handled the scene. “He was crying more than I was.

It’s only now that I realize how fortunate I was with that because that could have gone many, many, many different ways,” she said.

Clarke explained that Momoa, who was more experienced in the industry, helped put her at ease during filming.

“He was always like, ‘Can we get her a f***ing robe? She’s shivering!’ He was so kind and considerate and cared about me as a human being,” she said.

Clarke said that Momoa showed her the ropes and helped her feel comfortable on set.

“He was like, ‘Sweetie, this is not okay.’ And I was like, ‘Okay, okay. You’re right, you’re right,'” she said.

The actress also spoke about the challenges of playing a character who was constantly fighting for power in a male-dominated world.

“You’re being objectified as well, so it’s not just about portraying a strong woman, you’re also being asked to do things that inherently make you feel like you’re objectified,” she said.

Clarke said that while she was proud of her performance on the show, it was also difficult to watch herself on screen.

“There’s a huge amount of my life that is documented in that show and there are some things in there that I’m like, ‘Oh, wow.’ It’s like a diary,” she said.

Clarke also spoke about the pressure of being a role model for young girls who looked up to her character, Daenerys Targaryen.

“It’s a scary thing when you become a role model, and I didn’t necessarily sign up for that,” she said.

Despite the challenges, Clarke said that she was grateful for the opportunity to play such a complex character.

“I feel so lucky to have been given that character and to have been able to grow with her and learn from her and

play her for so long,” she said.

“But I also know that I wouldn’t be able to do it now. I wouldn’t be able to go back there.”

The actress also spoke about how the show’s ending affected her. “It’s like losing an arm. You’re losing a part of yourself, and you’re losing a part of your life,” she said.

“I feel like we were all in it together, and then when it finished, it was like, ‘Oh, okay, we’re not in it together anymore.'”

Clarke also discussed the intense physical training she underwent for the show.

“I was working out like a machine, and I didn’t care what anyone else was doing,” she said.

“I was just focused on being the best that I could be for that character.”

Despite the challenges she faced on set, Clarke said that the experience of working on Game of Thrones was “life-changing” for her.

“I feel like it was the first time that I had really been challenged, and I had really been pushed, and I had really been taken out of my comfort zone,” she said.

Clarke also spoke about her life after Game of Thrones, saying that she was excited to take on new challenges.

“I feel like I’ve been given the gift of a career that is going to go beyond Thrones,” she said.

“I feel like I’ve got a lot more to give.”

She also addressed the rumors that she was going to play the role of James Bond in the franchise’s next film.

“If I were to get it, that would be a huge privilege,” she said.

“But it’s not something that I’m actively pursuing.”
