Rosario Dawson was sexually abused as a child

Rosario Dawson has revealed that she was sexually abused as a child.

The actress, known for her roles in “Luke Cage” and “The Defenders”, spoke about her experiences on the Morado Lens podcast and expressed support for the #MeToo movement and the Time’s Up initiative.

During the podcast, Dawson discussed the impact of the abuse she suffered as a child.

She said, “I was raped and molested as a child, so for me, the world was like that since I was a child.”

The actress also commented on the prevalence of sexual abuse, saying that it is not just limited to Hollywood, but can happen within families too.

Dawson expressed her support for the #MeToo movement, which aims to give a voice to survivors of sexual assault and harassment, and the Time’s Up initiative, which seeks to promote gender equality in the workplace.

She said, “We don’t have to keep passing this on. This is archaic and terrible and destructive. Let’s look at it.”

The actress is also one of the co-founders of the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund, which was launched in 2018 to provide support to victims of sexual abuse, harassment and inequality in any industry.

The fund has raised over $24 million to date and has helped numerous individuals seek justice for the harm they’ve experienced.

Dawson spoke about her pride in being part of the Time’s Up initiative, saying, “It’s beautiful. I’m so ready for this moment.”

She expressed hope that the movement would help bring about positive change and end the cycle of abuse and inequality.

The actress also commented on the recent wave of sexual assault allegations in Hollywood, saying that she was not surprised by them.

She said, “When I saw it in the workplace, it wasn’t foreign to me. It was like, well, that even happens within family. It happens with people that are supposed to take care of you when you’re a child.”

Dawson’s decision to speak out about her experiences follows a number of other high-profile celebrities who have shared their stories as part of the #MeToo movement.

The movement gained momentum in 2017, after allegations of sexual assault and harassment were made against movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.

Since then, the movement has sparked a global conversation about the prevalence of sexual abuse and harassment, and has led to numerous individuals being held accountable for their actions.

Dawson’s decision to speak out is a testament to the power of the movement and the need for continued action and change.

Dawson’s advocacy work extends beyond the #MeToo movement and the Time’s Up initiative.

She has also been vocal about issues such as environmental justice, LGBTQ+ rights and racial inequality, and has used her platform to raise awareness and push for change.

The actress has been involved in various projects aimed at promoting social justice, including the creation of Voto Latino, a non-profit organization that encourages Latinx youth to become involved in politics and civic engagement.

Dawson’s decision to speak out about her experiences with sexual abuse is a reminder of the need for continued efforts to support survivors and end the cycle of abuse.

Her work with the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund is just one example of the many ways in which individuals can take action and make a difference in the fight against sexual assault and harassment.
