Kacey Musgraves performs fully n-ked on SNL

Country-pop star Kacey Musgraves made history over the weekend as the first musician to ever perform fully n^de on Saturday Night Live.

The singer’s performance was part of the show’s 47th season premiere, which also marked the debut of Owen Wilson as host.

Musgraves sang two tracks from her latest album, Star-Crossed, including “Justified.” During her performance, she sat on a chair with her legs crossed and used a guitar to cover her body.

The only article of clothing she wore was a pair of cowboy boots.

While viewers speculated about whether or not Musgraves was actually nude, a spokesperson for the singer confirmed that she was indeed completely n^ked.

“Precautions were taken, and this was the first time it’s happened on the show,” the spokesperson said.

To ensure that the performance went smoothly, a sheet was put up to separate Musgraves from the audience while the stage was being set up.

Fans who attended the live taping and dress rehearsal claimed that people gathered around the singer with large towels to wrap her so she could stand and walk off the stage.

After the show, Musgraves tweeted a screenshot of a scene from Forrest Gump, confirming that her performance was a reference to a scene in the 1994 film featuring Robin Wright’s character, Jenny Curran.

“I had the idea to recreate the iconic Forrest Gump bit where Jenny (Robin Wright) steps up onstage at the strip club where Forrest is playing house band guitar and just takes off her top, revealing a beautiful b–b,” Musgraves told Rolling Stone.

“I wanted to do my take on that.”

Musgraves also performed “Photo Roll” during her appearance on SNL.

The singer’s latest album, Star-Crossed, was released on September 10 and features songs about her recent divorce from fellow musician Ruston Kelly.

Fans had mixed reactions to Musgraves’ performance, with some praising her for being brave and others criticizing her for objectifying herself.

However, Musgraves seemed unfazed by the controversy, tweeting after the show: “i just hopped off stage at @nbcsnl and holy sh*t that was a thrill.

thank you @owenwilson1 for having me on as your first musical guest of the season & thank u to the whole cast and crew for makin me feel so welcome.

star-crossed forever 🌹.”

Musgraves’ appearance on SNL is just the latest in a string of bold moves for the singer, who has never been afraid to push boundaries.

In 2019, she became the first female solo artist to win Album of the Year at the Country Music Association Awards since 2011.
