Sanditon viewers are left shocked over explicit s** scene in the Jane Austen adaptation
Viewers of the ITV adaptation of Jane Austen’s unfinished novel, Sanditon, were left in shock after a recent episode featured an explicit s** scene.
The episode saw Sir Edward Denham, played by Jack Fox, and Clara Brereton, portrayed by Lily Sacofsky, engaged in a passionate romp on the marble floor.
Fans of the eight-part series took to Twitter to express their surprise at the unexpected scene, which occurred as Edward was searching for Lady Denham’s will.
One viewer wrote that they couldn’t get the image out of their head, while another commented on the painful bruises Clara must have sustained on the hard surface.
Although screenwriter Andrew Davies is known for “sexing up” his scripts, this particular scene was unexpected among fans of the classic author’s works.

Some viewers noted that the scene was so awkward that they could not concentrate on anything else.
Others drew attention to the earlier dance scene between Edward and his step-sister, Esther Denham, portrayed by Charlotte Spencer.
While some were taken aback by the steamy scenes, others found humor in the situation.
One viewer commented that they were glad there was a warning, or else they would have spat their tea out.
Another joked about how exciting it was to experience a five-minute tension-filled dance during the Victorian era.
Sanditon is one of Jane Austen’s final, unfinished novels, ending before the plot could fully develop.
The story introduces a cast of characters to the seaside resort of Sanditon, where the drama unfolds.
Although the TV series is not quite like any of Austen’s other works, it has gained a fervent following.
Andrew Davies, the screenwriter behind the adaptation, is widely recognized in the industry for his talent.
He has been awarded a lifetime achievement award by BAFTA for his contributions to the art of moving images.
The writer is known for his ability to adapt classic works into hit TV shows, such as House of Cards, Vanity Fair, War & Peace, and Pride and Prejudice.
Sanditon’s explicit s** scene may have come as a surprise to fans of Austen’s works, but it is not the first time that Davies has included such scenes in his scripts.
The series has also featured an incestuous storyline between Edward and his step-sister, Esther.
Although some viewers found the steamy scenes uncomfortable, they continue to tune in to see what other surprises await in this adaptation of Austen’s unfinished masterpiece.
