Meryl Streep suffered wardrobe mishap at prom

Meryl Streep, the renowned actress, recently recounted a wardrobe malfunction that occurred on her prom night.

Despite the embarrassing incident, she managed to keep her cool and not let it ruin her special night.

In an interview with People, the 71-year-old actress shared how her mother had made her a beautiful dress with two delicate spaghetti straps for the occasion.

However, as soon as she sat in the front seat of the car, both straps snapped off.

Streep further revealed that she attempted to tuck them underneath her dress but since she was only 14 at the time, she had nothing to hold up the dress except for her arms.

Thus, she kept her arms pinned to her sides for the entire four and a half hours of the prom.

Despite the unfortunate situation, Streep handled it like a pro, although it might have made dancing quite a challenge.

Now fast forward 57 years later, Streep is set to star in the upcoming Netflix musical “The Prom.”

The movie follows the story of a group of self-absorbed Broadway actors who visit a conservative town in Indiana to help a high school student named Emma.

Emma was banned from bringing her girlfriend to the prom, and the actors aim to help her while also hoping to garner some good press for their show after it flopped on Broadway.

In August, director Ryan Murphy shared a photo of the cast, which included Nicole Kidman, Kerry Washington, Keegan Michael-Key, and James Corden, alongside newcomer Jo Ellen Pellman, who stars as Emma.

This star-studded cast is sure to draw in viewers from all around the world.

“The Prom” is set to be released on Netflix on Friday, and fans are eagerly awaiting its arrival.

With Meryl Streep’s extraordinary talent and the rest of the cast’s impressive resumes, it is sure to be a hit.

The movie’s storyline is particularly relevant in today’s world, where inclusion and acceptance are of utmost importance.
