Brendan Fraser fights back tears over fans ‘rooting’ for him to succeed in new Martin Scorsese film

Brendan Fraser held back tears after discovering from a TikToker that “so many” people were “rooting” for him on the internet.

Fraser received the message during a virtual meet-and-greet with cosplayer Lindley Key (@LittleLottieCosplay), after the actor spoke about acting in Martin Scorsese’s next film “Killers of the Flower Moon” and working with Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro.

Fraser stated, “I’m going to work with Scorsese, Leo [DiCaprio], and Bob De Niro.”

The “George of the Jungle” actor admitted he was “little anxious” when Key congratulated him on the new picture.

‘I think I might be sick, a little anxious. I mean, it’s going to be fine,’ Fraser stated as he pretended to nervously bite off his fingernails.

The adoring fan then tells him that he has not just her undying love, but also the internet’s unending devotion. “The internet is so behind you! We’re so supportive,” she says. “There are so many people out there who love you, and we’re rooting for you, and we can’t wait to see what you do next.”

The actor closed the video by tipping his cowboy hat to Key and saying, “Shucks, ma’am,” and it has received over 400,000 likes on TikTok.

‘I GOT TO CHAT WITH THIS MAN FOR 2 MINUTES AND HE IS THE PUREST SOUL,’ Lindsey said later as she posted recordings of her chat online.

She told Insider that the video’s virality was due to Fraser’s “extremely loyal fan base and the sheer amount of people who want to see him succeed.”

Key told the Insider, “Fraser was such a huge part of our childhoods. His movies were, and still are, loved by so many out there. And after all he has been through these past years, his fans are thrilled to see him happy and back to work.”

Fraser’s social media following is growing. He said in 2018 that he felt blacklisted after accusing former Hollywood Foreign Press Association president Philip Berk of sexual assault in 2003.

He told GQ, “I felt like someone had thrown invisible paint on me.”

He said the event occurred in public at an HFPA summer luncheon (which hosts the Golden Globes annually). Berk leaned out to shake the actor’s hand, but instead grabbed his butt in a crowded area, according to Fraser.

After the claim was made public, the HFPA committed to look into it.

“The HFPA stands firmly against sexual harassment and the type of behaviour described in this article,” their statement read. “Over the years we’ve continued a positive working relationship with Brendan, which includes announcing Golden Globe nominees, attending the ceremony and participating in press conferences. This report includes alleged information that the HFPA was previously unaware of and at this time we are investigating further details surrounding the incident.”
